A pre-planned, engineered set of operational limits used during Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) to safely manage a well influx without immediately shutting in the well with the BOPs. It serves as a real-time decision-making tool for the driller. The purpose of the IME is to use the advanced capabilities of the MPD system to dynamically control and circulate out a small, manageable influx, thereby preventing a minor event from escalating into a full well control incident that requires shutting down operations.
