Downhole equipment sealing off annular space. A major component of most downhole completion designs, where the packer provides a pressure-tight seal between the tubing and casing so fluid flow will be diverted up the tubing rather than up the tubing-casing annulus. This protects the casing from pressure and corrosive fluids.
