Transition Phase

When cement is setting downhole, it goes through a critical transition phase where it is no longer a true liquid but not yet a solid. During this phase, the cement slurry begins to build gel strength. As this internal structure develops, the slurry starts to support its own weight against the casing and the formation, instead of transmitting its full weight downwards as hydrostatic pressure.
